(This picture disappeared into the Internet abyss.)
We got a tiny jar full of glitter (“pixie dust”) from a princess party a few months ago. She has wanted so badly to open it and test out the pixie dust. I explained that we really couldn’t take the cork seal out, that it was more for pretend purposes. The jar went into the abyss of her room and was forgotten.
Today we were cleaning up before soccer.
Lexi – why is my pony all sparkly? (This should have been my first clue. She loves to ask questions she already knows the answer to.)
Me – I don’t know. Why is she?
Lexi – I don’t know.
Me – (fearing another glitter glue incident) Are you sure you don’t know why?
Lexi – No.
Me – (spots white thing on floor) What is this?
Lexi – part of a fork.
Me – uh. Ok. Where is the fork and why are you breaking it?
Lexi – it’s in the bucket. And I’ve decided I’m going to tell you the truth. I opened my pixie dust.
Me – (blank stare)
Lexi – I used the fork to open the pixie dust. That’s why the fork broke.
Me – ok. Where is the pixie dust jar?
Lexi – (points to under desk chair – popular hiding spot)
Me – ok then. Well that why everything is sparkly huh.
Lexi – I’m sorry. I wanted to tell you the truth.
Me – (giggling in my head because she seems so repentant and plus it was a super tiny little jar of glitter so who really cares and I can just picture her desperately drying to pry it open.)
